Sometimes, out of a bad situation comes something fabulous! That was definitely the case with Ro and Joe. This fantastic couple had the unfortunate experience of hiring a photographer who disappeared once he received a payment…total bad situation. My gal Berit from Makeup by Berit, came to the rescue by suggesting the couple contact Blue Sky’s Studio to see if we had the date open. As look would have it, we did and that led to us getting the opportunity to photograph them (yeah!)….fabulous! The rest is beautiful history.
We were lucky enough to shoot their wedding at Franciscan Gardens in San Juan Capistrano (our home away from home). AND the icing on the cake was that we staged a First Glance at the Mission in San Juan, one of my favorites spots in the whole world….so all of the fabulous wedding portraits were complete before the ceremony…. which gave Ro and Joe lots of time to enjoy partying with their close friends and family. Okay, I know it is bias to say this is my “favorite” family, but I really, really love them. Jan and I share the same ethnicity (Jan I know you know what I am talking about). I think everyone has a friend that you think, “if only my kids can grow up as great as her kids, I will be able to say I am successful as a parent” (in this case the oldest two kids… as her youngest is the same age as my son, but fabulous in her own rite :)) The best part of the session was that not only did I photograph John and Jan’s immediate family, I also got to work with all the extended family (who, by the way, are also fabulous people). I hope you enjoy the portraits as much as I enjoyed shooting them!!!!
You know when someone tell you that they are not photogenic and never take good pictures? Well, for me, I look at that comment at a challenge. My job at Blue Sky’s Studio is to make each client feel comfortable enough in front of the camera that they forget I am taking portraits. Connie and Mike issued me that challenged and told me that they never get a good picture. Ha! I say! Look at how beautiful they both are in all of these images! They were so cute together and we just laughed and joked around the entire shoot. I know their wedding portraits at are going to be stunning! Stay tuned.
Beautiful lighting and a beautiful family makes for fabulous portraits! The McCarthy family really delivered. Not only did we have a lot of fun, we zipped through the Mission capturing so many beautiful family shots, it was really hard for me to choose my favorites. I guess my one of my favorites from the day was the family walking! I love the way the boys are messing with each other! It is so typical of siblings and every time I look at it, I get a big smile on my face! Enjoy!
