Executive Headshots

The sun is back out, the sun is setting over Catalina and it is the perfect time for family beach portraits!  If you have scheduled a beach shoot in October or November, you know that the beach is a crazy place for portraits leading up to the Holiday season!  But NOT right now!  Now it is perfect on the beach with few people and gorgeous pink sunsets!

Speaking of pink, here is another very pink session, but this time on the beach.  I have been photographing these two beautiful gals since they were tiny tots!  I am not sure if there are two girls out there who like the beach better!  My biggest challenge is keeping them out of the water until we are done with their session!  Enjoy!

I love school auctions!  It is a chance to help out the school systems, get in touch with a new group of families and create new work.  These three totally cutie gals came from my elementary school alma mater, so it was even more fun!  And cause, yes, they are three girls, it was all about pink! I don’t pull out the pink couch much… I actually traded it with one of my really good girl friends for her cream and black couch, so it isn’t even mine, but this time it just worked out.

Thank you you so much to the Dishon family for letting me play in the leaves with your beautiful girls and for supporting Mariner’s Elementary school! :)

I am inspired by light!  The soft light at the end of the day, the light that reflects back off of a white building, the harsh shadowy light from my Q-flash, backlight…. all light!   For this beautiful session, I decided to challenge myself to using at least 4 different lighting situations.  I used bounce light, back light, off camera flash and the edge of the shade.  I love all of the different lighting scenerious and how it really made each portrait fun and different for my client!  See if you can identify which light source is which! :)  Enjoy!

I have a LOT of tricks up my sleeve after 10 years of owning Blue Sky’s Studio!  Most include bribes, telling stories, making silly faces, sneezing or …. reverse psychology!  All of these trick were EXTREMELY useful a few weeks ago at this commercial session from Adora Dolls!  I have been shooting for this company for several years, but we have never attempted to include babies and toddlers!  There was a lot of “this is my baby and you can’t hold it” to encourage the toddlers to hug the babies as well as peek a boo and fake sneezing.  The results, great portraits without anyone being the wiser to the craziness behind the scenes!

Thanks so all of the fabulous Mommys and Daddys for agreeing to participate!  More to come from Take 3!  Enjoy!
