Laguna beach Family Portrait: Birthdays and Fall Leaves

Right now, & these last few weeks, is the most beautiful time for natural, warm light of the year.  Each morning, I take just a moment to truely appreciate the crisp sailboat blue ocean and the white puffy clouds in the sky (granted that is when the mornings are not overcast).  I love shooting this time a year because I feel I have more time to spend with families and my creative muscles need a good stretching.  Though these were shot in 2013, I still love both the light in my studio and in the field just a few blocks away.  Not to mention that this beautiful family is always a pleasure to work with and the kiddos are always dressed to the nines (Mom and Dad look pretty great as well)!  Enjoy!

Laguna Beach Family Photography: The Zarate Family

Baby boys…. oh how I love capturing their winning smiles, their spirit, their energy and well, yes trying to catch them.  This guy really gave me a run for my money.  I absolutely love capturing small kiddos in an open environment, but the only trouble is there is also lots of room to run.  Mom and Dad were great at playing games, making silly faces and just entertaining him long enough to get some amazing smiles.  He loves music and his Mommy and Daddy, as long as they aren’t touching.  I know right, he gets mad if they hug or kiss!  Again, another challenge when you are trying to get great group shots.  I think we managed anyway!  It was so amazing to get to know this beautiful family and I hope to get to enjoy them for many years to come! ;)  Enjoy.

Laguna Beach Portrait Photography: Fall Special!

Laguna Beach photography, the Neville Family

There is nothing I like better than kids!  They are quick to play games, love to play make believe and let me fulfill my need to play dress up on a regular basis.  I hadn’t seen these two kiddos since I did a newborn shoot with this gorgeous girl (Mom, it was definitely toooo long!  I missed you…. :)  Mom and dad definitely passed on the beautiful genes, cause this whole family is a photographers dream come true!  Not only that, but they were super, duper easy to work with!  Can I say “I LOVE my job”!  Anywho… I wanted to give a quick sneak peak.  More to follow!   Also, fyi to all of my Blue Sky’s family and friends, my schedule is already almost filled for October.  Please call to book your holiday session as soon as possible so we have lots of time to play and get amazing images. Laguna Beach Kids photographer: The Golden Hour

I am inspired by light!  The soft light at the end of the day, the light that reflects back off of a white building, the harsh shadowy light from my Q-flash, backlight…. all light!   For this beautiful session, I decided to challenge myself to using at least 4 different lighting situations.  I used bounce light, back light, off camera flash and the edge of the shade.  I love all of the different lighting scenerious and how it really made each portrait fun and different for my client!  See if you can identify which light source is which! :)  Enjoy!
