Is it already September???  This year has been roaring by!  Seriously, there is only about 10 weekends left until our holiday card cut off.  Please book early this year, because we are already, almost completely booked on the weekends for October.  I want to make sure all of the families I love seeing every year have an opportunity to get the prime lighting spots.  Also… I would really, really, really appreciate it if you would vote for Blue Sky’s this year for Children’s Photographer of the Year.  We only have a few weeks to vote, so just take a moment!  I thank you so much!   To vote, click on this link: Children’s Photographer of the Year!  Have a beautiful day!

There is nothing I like better than kids!  They are quick to play games, love to play make believe and let me fulfill my need to play dress up on a regular basis.  I hadn’t seen these two kiddos since I did a newborn shoot with this gorgeous girl (Mom, it was definitely toooo long!  I missed you…. :)  Mom and dad definitely passed on the beautiful genes, cause this whole family is a photographers dream come true!  Not only that, but they were super, duper easy to work with!  Can I say “I LOVE my job”!  Anywho… I wanted to give a quick sneak peak.  More to follow!   Also, fyi to all of my Blue Sky’s family and friends, my schedule is already almost filled for October.  Please call to book your holiday session as soon as possible so we have lots of time to play and get amazing images. Enjoy.

I am inspired by light!  The soft light at the end of the day, the light that reflects back off of a white building, the harsh shadowy light from my Q-flash, backlight…. all light!   For this beautiful session, I decided to challenge myself to using at least 4 different lighting situations.  I used bounce light, back light, off camera flash and the edge of the shade.  I love all of the different lighting scenerious and how it really made each portrait fun and different for my client!  See if you can identify which light source is which! :)  Enjoy!

Living in sunny So Cal we rarely get what can be classified as “Weather”!   But every once in a while, we are lucky enough to get some WILD hail, rain, lightning, snow…. whatever!  On our last big “Weather” day, I was lucky enough to have a session booked for beautiful Sarah in her home. (btw… my new obsession is, “in home”, editorial style photography.  I love how my client’s homes help tell the story of their family.)

Sarah’s story begins with being married nearly 10 years!  So what a life changer to have a new baby boy on the way!  His nursery is so darn cute, I thought it had to be the star of a least a large part of the photography session!  But because Sarah was game, we started in the hills surrounding her home.  The backdrop was stormy rain clouds, but with sun shining!  So crazy.

Fortunately, we got some amazing shots outside and quickly headed back into her house.  As soon as we got settled in her bedroom, the hail started.   Seriously, in Southern California… so strange, but beautiful as well.

I am excited to continue Sarah’s story when the baby arrives.  Thanks so much Sarah and ENJOY!

So I am going to put on my braggin Momma hat for just a second and tell you that this beautiful gal played Juliet and my son, Cameron, was Romeo in the Middle school play last year….. needless to say, I was really excited when her mom called me to book a modeling/ headshot session for her!  Even though Cameron and Kasey made me promise to “NOT” ask her to say “Romeo” to get her to smile, I did it anyway (of course I let her know that I was just kiddin around).

We just recently launched our Teen/ High School senior website ( click here to check it out) and I am so excited to roll my sleeves up and get creative with high school kids!  These are some of my favorite sessions, cause I not only get to be the photographer, but I get to help the guys and gals with styling, clothing, hair and makeup!

For Gigi’s session, we started in my studio and then jumped into my van and cruised around Laguna Beach.  There are so many fabulous places to shoot, that we spent nearly three hours running around!  It was well worth it!  The portraits came out amazing.  Here are just a few for a sneak peak!  Thank you so much Gigi for being such an awesome modeling!  Enjoy!
