Life is good!  I recently moved my office to the top floor in my home.  And seriously, why didn’t I move a long time ago?  I now sit and can look out at the beautiful ocean, and I feel really inspired.  I feel like it is just really important to be thankful for all of the wonderful experiences I have had, for the great family I get to hang out with, for the amazing clients I get to work with each day and for my really diverse group of  friends who surround me with love and support.  And the best part, I can now call a lot of my clients, friends.

So now to new friends, the beautiful Remillard family!   I spoke with Lisa about them wanting a really beautiful three generation family portrait.  We talked about all kinds of great locations, and decided on a location with an ocean view.  The only problem was each time the date came, it was too windy, rainy, overcast or something that prevented us from shooting on that date.  Finally I said, let’s try something different.  How about the Mission in San Juan Capistrano?  As it turned out, her mom was a docent at the Mission and it held a special place in her heart.  AND…. she had an inside connect that allowed us to shoot beyond closing time.  Don’t you just love an inside connection?

Not to make any of the adults feel like I don’t love them, but the best part of the session was Lisa’s adorable niece & her pink monkey!  Such a cutie.  It took a lot of fake sneezes and peak a boos to get her great big smile, but it was so worth the effort.  Enjoy!

p.s. my Spring Mini sessions will be announced tomorrow!  Just in time for Easter!

Kristin captured one of our favorite models, Miss Brooklyn, in a fun array of super cute Valentine’s Day looks in the studio for Valentine’s Day cards. It’s the season of love and we love how cute Miss Brooklyn’s photos turned out! A big hank you to Brooklyn and her equally beautiful mom for such a fun session and for the the adorable clothing!

So it’s upon us……the Christmas/Holiday Card season.  Yes, we have been busy putting together and designing Holiday Cards already (so if you haven’t booked your photo session for Holiday Cards, contact us to do so!!).  But last week, Kristin and I took a break from the “‘Tis the Season” chaos to have some fun in her Laguna Beach Studio with my daughter.  For the past 2 years, my 7 year old daughter has been begging me to allow her to try on my shoes….”just once Mom, please?”.  After saying “ummm….no” countless times, I finally agreed to let her do it and get it out of her system.  Kristin was there to document it.  Now at least I have proof that indeed, she did get to do it once.  Enjoy!

Wow, it seems like for the last five years at least half of the summer in Laguna was overcast, and while I think overcast skys can lead to gorgeous photography, there is nothing like a golden sun for beautiful portraits!  So you can imagine that I was excited to take down Ella for a celebration session of her toothless smile!  The tide was a little high and we had to battle the water, but the session was amazing.  That was until I was informed that there were no beach photography sessions allowed on Victoria Beach until after Labor Day.  I am not one to rant, but this seems a little crazy to me.  Isn’t this a public beach???? Don’t families, brides and couples come from all over the world to have their pictures taken in Laguna Beach.  I have to imagine that the wedding industry significantly helps Laguna Beach’s economy.  So WHY would you outlaw all session until summers end?  Totally crazy if you ask me!

Anyway, they didn’t stop us from getting some amazing images!  Thanks to the Taber gals for being so understanding and going with the flow!

Living in sunny So Cal we rarely get what can be classified as “Weather”!   But every once in a while, we are lucky enough to get some WILD hail, rain, lightning, snow…. whatever!  On our last big “Weather” day, I was lucky enough to have a session booked for beautiful Sarah in her home. (btw… my new obsession is, “in home”, editorial style photography.  I love how my client’s homes help tell the story of their family.)

Sarah’s story begins with being married nearly 10 years!  So what a life changer to have a new baby boy on the way!  His nursery is so darn cute, I thought it had to be the star of a least a large part of the photography session!  But because Sarah was game, we started in the hills surrounding her home.  The backdrop was stormy rain clouds, but with sun shining!  So crazy.

Fortunately, we got some amazing shots outside and quickly headed back into her house.  As soon as we got settled in her bedroom, the hail started.   Seriously, in Southern California… so strange, but beautiful as well.

I am excited to continue Sarah’s story when the baby arrives.  Thanks so much Sarah and ENJOY!
